Katrina 10
Toward a more resilient New Orleans
Services: Visual Identity, Print Templates, and Website
As New Orleans approached the 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Mayor Mitch Landrieu's office needed a engaging means to share the powerful story of the city’s ongoing recovery to both locals and media outlets alike. Southpaw Creative was selected to build a memorable brand — including an identity system, print materials, and a website — in support of a series of events as part of a celebration of and a reflection on the anniversary.
Creating a Logo
We used a sturdy font to underscore strength of the city and then rotated the fleur de lis arrangement in the New Orleans flag to emphasize upward movement and optimism.

Building the Identity
The identity uses high-contrast fields of dark blue and punchy accents of gold along with various patterns of the logo and fleur de lis elements.
