Romanian Spring
Shedding a new light on Romania
Services: Business Naming, Visual Identity, Print Materials, and Website
After working as a writer and translator both in her native Romania and abroad, Elena Richard launched a new project aimed at bringing positive and informative stories about her home country to the world. Southpaw was engaged to develop a brand for the venture — including a name and visual identity — as well as the development of a multi-lingual website to serve as its home.
Developing a Name
Though our original naming exploration focused on names that referenced Romanian rich cultural history—like poetry and sculpture—we eventually we settled on a named that evoked both new beginnings and a continuous stream.

Creating a Logo
A graphic interpretation of a mărțișor gives the logo a unique, visual anchor and a unique icon. This traditional Romanian talisman is said to conveys the essence of the word "spring," as it is given as a gift to loved ones on March 1 in the hopes of bringing luck and prosperity to the recipient.
